Practical aspects
During the automn school and the workshop, accommodation as well as meals will be supported by our sponsoring institutions, with the exception of the diners of Monday 16 and Tuesday 17.
1. Automn School
You will be welcomed on Monday morning from 9 AM to 12 AM at the Laboratory Magmas and Volcanoes (Building number 1 on the campus map) located on the Cézeaux University campus in Aubière.
On tuesday, people will be welcome by Cecile Sergère whose office is located on the ground floor of Laboratory Magmas and Volcanoes.
Location of courses
Classe will take place on the Cézeaux University campus in Aubière.
- The course on surrogate models will take place on Monday 16 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the conference room of Laboratory Magmas and Volcanoes (Building number 1 on the campus map);
- Courses on the GTEP workflow and on the interferometric processing chain Form@ter ETALAB will take place on tuesday 17 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM for group 1 and from 2:00 PM to 6 PM for group 2 in room 2001of the Service Commun Informatique (SCI) located on the ground floor of the mathematics building (Building number 4 on the campus map).
- Courses on the form@ter ETALAB processing chain will take place on tuesday 17 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM for group 2 and from 2:00 to 6:00 PM for group 1 in the computer room of Laboratoire Magmas et Volcans (Building number 1 on the campus map), which is located on the top floor.
Group composition will be indicated upon arrival
Accommodation
From Monday 16 October to Wednesday 18 October, accommodation will be in the center of Clermont-Ferrand (cf. Plans Clermont 1 et 2) at hotels:
Le P'tit déj: Cours Raymond Poincaré, 63000 Clermont-Ferrand (tram A or bus 3, station University). Note the address as there are two hotels named P'tit dej.
The lauréades: 9 rue Giscard of the fondue tower, 63000 Clermont Ferrand / (tram A, station Jaude)
La Maison Universitaire Internationale: 9 rue Kessler, 63000 Clermont-Ferrand / (tram A ou bus 3, station Université)
Holliday Inn: 59 Boulevard François Mitterrand, 63000 Clermont-Ferrand
Rooms have normally been indicated to you bt a former email.
Meals
On monday, 16, lunch will take place at the restaurant Côté court (29 rue Roche-Genès, 63170 Aubière, campus des Cézeaux) and on tuesday, 17 a cold buffet will take place in room 9211 (note the room change) in the physics pôle.
During the automns school, diners will be paid by participants. A non exhaustive of restaurants is available here. Most are located in the historical city center of Clermont-Ferrand located at walking distance from your hotels (cf. Clermont Maps 1 et 2). Walking randomly in the old city center of Clermont-Ferrand located east of place de Jaude, you will find many others.
Transportation
In Clermont-Ferrand, we recommend participants to go around by bus, tram and on foot as finding a parking space in downtown Clermont-Ferrand is difficult and costly. Your cars can be left in the Campus parking lots (hide your valuables).
A workshop transportation ticket, valid for the duratipn of the automn school will be given to each participant (bus and tram company T2C). Beware only to validate your ticket once.
From the train station, the Laboratoire Magmas and Volcanoes on the Cézeaux campus can be reached by bus number 13. Walk to the bus stop named Carnot located rue Carnot, take the bus toward "Pérignat les Horts", stop at Observatoire, then walk to Laboratoire Magmas and Volcanoes Trajet SNCF Cézeaux.
Tram stops are located close to your hotels (Jaude or Lagarlaye tram stations for hotel Lauréades, Universités tram station for the Maison Universitaire Internationale or the P'tit Dej. Hotel). To get to the Cézeaux campus, take the tram toward "La pardieu Gare" and get down at tram station Cézeaux - Pellez. To go downtown, take the tram at tram station Cézeaux - Pellez, toward "Les Vergnes".
Car Park
On the Cézeaux campus, drivers should go to the intercom in front of the gates of the "blu" parking lots. They should indicate to the operator that they are attending a MDIS-Form@ter conference ("Je vais à la conférence MDIS-Form@ter organisée par le laboratoire Magmas et Volcans").
Cars can be left on these parking lots throughout the week. Beware not to leave any valuables in the cars as they are occasional thefts.
2. Workshop
The workshop will take place at the Hôtel des Mouflons: Lieu dit Berthelage, 63610 Besse and Saint Anastaise, where participants will be hosted and take their meals.
Recommendations for oral and poster presentations
The language for communications and posters will be english.
The planed duration for invited talks varies from 20 to 30 minutes (including questions); other talks should last 20 minutes (including questions).
People presenting posters will have 2 to 3 minutes (1 or 2 slides) to present their posters orally, in sessions tat will take place before the poster presentations. Posters will be hang on grids, which are 1.2 m wide for 2 m high. We recommend A0 size posters in portrait mode (84.1 cm wide by 118.9 cm high). Attaches adapted to grids will be provided.
Accommodation and meals
From Wednesday 18 October to Friday 20 October, accommodation will be at the Hôtel des Mouflons. Rooms numbers and wether you share your room of not, have been communicated to you by email.
Transportation
Between Clermont-Ferrand and Besse-en-Chandesse, transport will be by bus (company Les Rapides du Sancy) and will be supported by the organizing committee.
Départure time to go to Besse-en-Chandesse on Wednesday morning from Les Salins bus station (near your hotels), at 8:30
Departure time to Clermont-Ferrand from the Hôtel des Mouflons Friday at 2:00 PM
- stop at the Cézeaux campus, in Aubière, at 3:00-3:30 PM.
- stop at the SNCF railway station of Clermont-Ferrand at 3:30-4:00 PM.
(This stop order can be swapped depending on the participants train time)
We will organize a shutlle transfert between Besse and Clermont Friday morning (leaving Besse at 10H00 AM) for peoples with fly or train early in the friday afternoon. Beware that we can transport only 6 persons with this shuttle service. If you are interested by taking this shuttle, please inform us as soon as possible.
Parking
Cars can be left in the hotel parking or in the University parking for those who chose to come to Besse en Chandesse by bus. Beware not to leave any valuables in the university parkings.
Night hike around lake Pavin
A night hike, accompanied by a group of licenced guids is planed on Thursday evening (9:15 PM to 11:30 PM) around the Pavin lake. This hike has no specific difficulties. Because of the lake elevation (1200 m) and the season, we recommend taking warm and impermeable clothes, hiking shoes and headlights, as they will not be provided.
